How to Style a Pink Kimono for Fall

I was just working on a guest post for Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart for her upcoming trip to Poland and I stumbled across this outfit post in my drafts that was used last September for a guest post at Doused in Pink.  (Jill has since brought her blog to an end, but you can still read all of her posts if you are interested.) I realized I never shared this fun pink and teal look on my own blog and since I am all about kimonos lately, I figured why not recycle an old kimono outfit from last year…plus it shows that kimonos are still trending pretty strong into this Fall season.  Obviously, all of the pieces I am wearing will no longer be available, but you can still get some inspiration for styling a kimono into the Fall.  Also, be sure to check in at Jersey Girl, Texan Heart on September 5 for my guest post there as well as Monica’s Wednesday Link Up on that day.

Clearly you already know about my obsession with kimonos. I plan to wear them straight into the Fall until that very moment when the dainty chiffons of these dramatic pieces freeze in the bitter winds of the Northern New York Autumn, which lasts approximately 3 weeks before we are smack in the middle of lake effect snowstorms often coming upon us just in time for Halloween. So as the Summer fades into Autumn, the time is quickly running out for me and my pretty kimonos!

So how does a Northeast girl style a pink kimono for the Fall? With layers, of course. And booties. And colors that reflect the natural hues that surround us here in upstate New York. Teals and golds and tans and more pinks.  These shades pick up the reflections off the water and the trees making me feel at one with nature and completely in touch with my inner bohemian.

The day we shot these photos was a cooler day near the end of Summer with temperatures similar to what most of the rest of the United States experience in mid to late Fall. There was a light breeze blowing across the water near the Battlefield at Sackets Harbor, New York, where my husband and I spent the day (kid-free) strolling and chatting and just enjoying the peacefulness around us.

I felt a little like a bohemian princess in this Knox Rose™ teal embroidered dress that I snagged on clearance from Target last summer. And this perfectly matched pink duster kimono from Charlotte Russe was a deal on their $15 kimono sale. These boots are also Charlotte Russe that I picked up two years ago on clearance for under $15. I had no idea how versatile pale pink booties would be, but they have proven to be quite a staple in my closet as I do wear them often.

I have some more kimono outfits already photographed and ready to share on the blog soon.  So I hope you don’t all get tired of seeing them!  At least it’s not another crop top…because I have recently become obsessed with those, too. Ooh, maybe I need to style a crop top with a kimono!  Stay tuned…I feel the inspiration kicking in!

How do you transition your Summer wardrobe pieces into Fall?
