How to Implement Interior Décor Elements into Your Personal Style

An undeniably strong bridge has always existed between how interior designers work and how the fashion industry overlaps with home décor. However, in recent years, this connection has evolved to the point where one is significantly influencing the other. Today, fashion is not just about the outfits we wear. Fashion portrays our personal style in conjunction with all of the things we like in addition to our clothing choices, the things we surround ourselves with in our homes, our vehicles, and our work spaces.

High profile fashion designers and popular clothing brands are adding home lines to their fashion collections. Simultaneously, they are drawing inspiration from the interior design world and incorporating these impressive trends and details into their runway collections. While the interior design trends, like those showcased by Helen Coulston, are extensively influencing the fashion arena, many fashion designers have collaborated with interior designers to offer bespoke and chic fashion styles to clients.

The Worlds of Décor and Fashion Colliding

The similarities in tastes and style choices between interior designers and fashion stylists are colliding. They are sharing the same sketching designs, studying current trends, and utilizing impressive color palettes and fabrics. Both worlds are experimenting with material and color combinations as well as a plethora of similar themes in both industries. There has always been an appealing connection between the materials and fabrics that both fashion gurus and interior designers choose. If you are a fashion geek, you have probably already noticed how interior trends are seeping into the fashion world with abundance.

On the topic of what is trending for Fall, you will see a mesmerizing collection of natural elements on the runways. Additionally, trending prints, colors, and textures of interior design are added into fashion collections with more surprising and interesting elements than ever before. Blending together exquisite colors and exotic textures, the fashion world is creating a wide range of innovative collections that consist of marble prints. If you are impressed enough with the contemporary idea of bringing interior décor elements into your personal style, the following trends are sure to catch your interest as they are blazing their way to the forefront of many fashion designers’ newest collections.

Marble Prints are Illustrating Another Facet of Creativity

Bringing natural finishes into your home is not a new idea. The concept of blending or incorporating natural elements into your house has long been a significant trend. Whether you look to bedding and organic sheets to adorn your bedrooms or search for rustic leaves and animal instincts to decorate your interior living space, inspirations from nature frequently make their way into our home décor.

When it comes to incorporating nature’s elements, you should not overlook the new marbleous trend. Marble is a luxurious, gleaming stone that has paved its way into the fashion world. Many fashion designers have embraced marble prints and textures and blended them into their creative collections. Because it depicts captivating and unique patterns, marble print appears beautifully on clothing and accessories.

Animal Instincts are on High Fashion Alert

Back in 2018, animal instincts became widely popular not only in the interior décor world but also in the fashion spectrum. Among all the patterns, leopard print was the raging trend and became a focal point for many fashion enthusiasts. From throw rugs and pillows to chic skirts and elegant bags, you could find leopard print virtually everywhere. This trend is still going strong today as many people who look for something different continue to embrace leopard print in both fashion and interior design.

Animal instincts are not going anywhere. In fact, you will see more fashion collections with a variety of animal prints. The reappearance of animal instincts in the interior design world are definitely making a strong comeback this season. From zebra and leopard prints to snakeskin and crocodile textures, you will find a vast variety of wardrobe basics translating the exotic flair of such patterns. If you only want a hint of animal instincts, you can choose different accessories like a leopard bag or zebra pumps.

Emerald Green is the Color of the Year

From couches to upholstery, emerald green is being blended into different home lines. However, when it comes to the fashion world, this beautiful shade has been incorporated into a unique array of clothing and accessories. Back in 2013, emerald green was the baseline color for plenty of items in the fashion industry. A surprising fact is that emerald green dictated the personal style of a profound number of people. While this bold color trend faded in the past years, according to Fashion Adict, emerald green is making a significant reemergence into different fashion collections and interior décor. Whether you go are shopping for decorative pillows or vibrant scarves, make sure to check out what is available in emerald green. While not always in popular demand, the captivating hues of emerald green will surely mesmerize you especially beneath the perfect Neon Lights.

I like that emerald green is big again, gives me more reason to wear my green pants or bag, haha! We are all about neutrals for our home decor but I do love bright clothes and bags!

Hope that you are having a great weekend! We went for our annual family Christmas photo with Santa yesterday, with two kids and a dog it didn’t quite go as planned, ha!

Mica, thanks so much for reading and sharing your fashion and decor preferences. Right now, with my two beastly boys, my home decor leans heavily on the trend of chaotic mayhem! One day, however, I will decorate properly and I do enjoy colors in my home decor like bold colored accent walls. Your Christmas photo session sounds a bit like it may have resembled my chaotic mayhem decor! But I am sure the photos are still super cute.

I guess I haven’t really thought about it before, but you’re so right. I have several animal print blankets and pillows through the house and I add pops of my favorite colors along with the basic neutrals. I’m loving that emerald green. I went to a ball last year and a woman was wearing a formal gown in emerald and it was just gorgeous – reminded me of Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With The Wind. I decided I was going to keep my eyes opened for a gown in emerald, too. Great post – I shared!

Thanks so much, Ruth! You know, this was a topic that I hadn’t much considered before either but it makes sense that our style tastes carry over into our home decor. Emerald green is one of my favorite colors ever and I am always reminiscent of Scarlett O’Hara when I see formal gowns in that shade. I have had to attend many military balls over the years and always wanted an emerald green gown as well, but I can never seem to find one. I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

    Hi, Shelbee
This is really fascinating, isn’t it? I’m a little confused, though, by emerald green as color of the year. Pantone’s color of the year 2019 is Living Coral…is emerald unique to decor while coral is unique to fashion?…or are you predicting emerald for 2020? I love emerald green and it looks good on me. Anyway, nice exploration of how to blend our fashion style with our home style!
    Thanks for the ideas,

Angie, thank you so much! In all honesty, I am not sure about the emerald green reference as this was contributed content. I just did some quick research on it and I am only finding that one of the Pantone colors of 2019 is Eden which is just a shade darker than emerald green. I am thinking, however, that the reference is more to interior home design than fashion. I have found a few articles on interior design that are predicting emerald green as a trend for 2020. I also love emerald green. It is my favorite color ever and looks good on me, too. So you and I should continue wearing it regardless of the trends!
