Welcome to the Edge
Welcome to my little corner of the universe! My name is Shelbee and I am an over 40 stay-at-home mother of two boys named Archie and Ralphie, two cats named Dave and Frankie, and a bunny named George. I also was an Army wife until my husband retired after 22 years of service in 2021. We were stationed at Fort Drum and are remaining in the surrounding Watertown area in the northern reaches of New York State where the summers are short and the winters are long, cold, and very snowy. I decided to start blogging during my husband’s deployment to Afghanistan in 2015 as a means to reclaim some of the sanity I have lost trying to raise these boys in the midst of an extraordinary military lifestyle in this curious climate of the North Country!
I also would like to provide a welcoming forum for like-minded women and men to stop by to give and receive support and helpful insights into surviving this crazy, beautiful life. I hope to discuss topics such as Army life, parenting, fashion and style, and mental health. In my little space, you will be free to express yourself without judgments and showcase your own unique style without fear. Here’s hoping we can all find our own individual voices in each area of our lives. While I may teeter on the brink of sanity (and midlife), I still find ways to hang on and feel fabulous in the process! Please stop by for a bit and feel inspired!
And if you (or I) fall of the ledge every now and then, it is okay as long as we know how to swim!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee
P.S. Please understand the risk involved in running a personal blog. I understand that risk is an essential part of progress, so I am putting it all out there! All I ask is that you please keep in mind that it is very intimidating to expose one’s life online. So please be gentle. And please be kind. And please be respectful of me and of anyone else who chooses to actively participate in my little corner of cyberspace. It is my passion to #SpreadTheKindness and I hope you will do the same!
Thanks so much!

Hi Shelbee and welcome to the wonderful world of blogging…..When I started out a few years ago, I could hardly use a laptop properly. let alone navigate my way around the whole cyber world…..But hey ho with a lot of help (my kids) tears and tantrums, I feel so much more confident in putting print out to the world! I think you will absolutely love it and get hooked very quickly, cant wait to read your lovely blog! Helen xx

Helen, thanks so much for the encouraging words! I am getting a little more used to it and things are moving along a bit quicker now, but there are still tons of kinks to work out. But I will get there…eventually!

Shelbee,
This is great. I could spend so much time on here; learning how to blog, and enjoying your fashion and life posts. This looks like so much fun. BTW, I have the same red plaid wrap. It’s a fall and winter favorite in my closet. Let me ask you, do you feel like Christmas when you wear it? I’m trying to wear it beyond the holiday season. It’s perfect for my “over heating, middle aged female hormonal body.” You wear yours well!

Diane, thank you so much for stopping by! I am glad you are enjoying what I write about. I don’t wear this wrap all that often…mostly because I have so many wraps that as I rotate them, they each only get a few wears. I don’t feel too holiday-ish in this one. I think the gray tones it down and keeps it more neutral. Plus I really love reds so I tend to wear them so often that it no longer feels festive to me. Now if it were red and green….then that definitely has a holiday feel…I have some plaid scarves like that. And aren’t the middle aged female hormones fun?!

I just found you on Facebook & I really appreciate your sharing your journey. My niece & her husband were stationed at Fort Drum for about 3 years – now they are stationed in Fort Lee, VA. I live near Buffalo so I know about snow! I look forward to following your blog!

Karen, thank you so very much! It is nice to make your acquaintance! It looks like we are about to finally emerge from the piles of snow! Spring is on the horizon. I do hope you find little bits of inspiration here in my blog space! I keep it authentic and real and honest and I do get a bit silly sometimes, too!

Shelbee love the smile, the look ,the pearls. You are right with with loss there is no happy endings. With love and giving there is the enjoyable happy endings the kind I like personally, keep smiling and giving

Paul, thank you so much for your sweet words. I much prefer happy beginnings and happy middles myself! But all good things do come to an end.

Also, Paul, I just tried to send you an email because I had a question to ask privately…but it is telling me that your email address could not be found or is unable to receive messages. Why so mysterious?! Lol
