Giving Thanks & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #732

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude. Gratitude for my family, my friends, my neighbors, my “village”. Gratitude for the people who restore my faith in humankind. Gratitude for my body and its ability to still do things with ease. Gratitude for my good health, both physical and mental. And so much gratitude for the healing home that my husband and I have created. It is a place where people feel safe, seen, heard, supported, and loved. I took a step back the other day to observe what we have made and I was so very proud of us. It was a long road getting here, but, boy oh boy, it was worth it.

While I do begin every day with a short gratitude meditation, lately I have been struggling to see through all the bad in the world. It seems like you have to dig through a lot of sludge to find the good stuff these days. And honestly, I really do not like getting my hands dirty. So I stopped all the sludge digging, washed my hands, and happily keep to myself. There is a very high level of joy that comes with the ability to enjoy long periods of time with yourself. I will admit that I enjoy my own company over most anybody else’s! And I have much gratitude for that as well. You can never be lonely when you love being with yourself!

But I won’t be by myself for Thanksgiving. We are planning for a houseful of friends and family. And I am grateful for that, too. I am looking forward to all the noise and laughter and abundant joy that will be filling my home next week.

What are thankful for this holiday season?
