Festival Style & Your Own Twist Link Up #23
It is that time again when I join Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart for our monthly collaboration, Your Own Twist. Our goal is to inspire you to think outside the box when it comes to personal style. Each month we choose either one common wardrobe piece or a creative theme and style it our own way with our own twist. We invite you to do the same!
Monica and I have both taken a lot of fashion inspiration from one another over the past few years even though we have totally different styles. It is always fun to see how we can interpret similar items or themes in our own unique ways. We post themes well in advance if you want would like to use the theme for your own post and add it to the link party. However, any fashion posts are welcome regardless of whether you followed our theme or not.
All that being said, we had chosen our themes months ago and I was more than relieved that we had settled on Festival Style for this month. We initially chose this theme for August because it seems to be the month that hosts so many different types of summer festivals. I assumed by this point in the summer, I would have already attended a few different music festivals and would have had plenty of outfit photographs from the real deal to share this month. But of course, none of that happened.
Even so, my stay at home summer wardrobe has been very reminiscent of my personal summer festival style so it was a simple theme for me that did not require too much planning. Thankfully. Because I hadn’t planned a thing and I haven’t photographed a single outfit in exactly one month (July 20 was the last day that I actually photographed myself). But I had taken photos of this outfit earlier in the summer and it was perfectly suited for any type of festival style theme.
So there you have it. My festival style for this festival-less summer. A long boho dress, the necessary kimono, crocheted sandals, handmade leather earrings, and my favorite mushroom necklace…because, well, music festivals, you know.
May we enjoy all the public gatherings, celebrations, and festivals next summer with a newfound appreciation and gratitude for so many things.
What are you looking forward to next summer?
And I have to feature Kim of Fierce Fashion once again. She refashioned a men’s Hawaiian shirt into the cutest puff sleeve, mixed pattern top that fit the Christmas in July theme in the most wonderful way!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Thanks so much, Laurie! I love this dress and kimono together. It was an accidental pairing of sorts but works wonderfully.

We already booked a hotel for the festival next year. I am not sure though if that will go through. Will there ever be festivals again? I think your outfit looks fabulous! Those colors really look very good on you and I love that dress!

Thanks so much, Nancy! I do hope there will be festivals again. Like next summer. But what if there are no more large public gatherings permitted ever again? Ugh. That is an awful thought. But we must keep positive! Bring the festivals back!

Perfect! I really love the color combo too! I used to wear grey all of the time and I need to start again! Love the print on this dress. I am try not to think to far ahead to summer of next year because I don’t want to be disappointed. I told the boys we will maybe visit something in the US though like Colorado or Yellowstone: something fun and exciting.

Thanks so much, Mireille! It was the colors of this dress that I couldn’t resist when I saw it! And the kimono was the perfect match. I hear you on not wanting to get our hopes up, but I can’t keep living with no hope at all, so it is time for me to start looking forward even if it means I might be disappointed. We are living through some seriously trying times! Just trying to make the best of what we’ve got. I do hope that next summer, we can all travel freely an comfortable and without anxiety or fear.

Oh! I can’t stop looking at that beautiful kimono on you! I love the rust with grey and the dress underneath looks like it was meant to be together! I love the trim and the flowy style as well. The earrings are pretty as well. You know I love the color rust 🙂 I do miss going to events and festivals. We have been going to vineyards and they have live music, so that has been nice.
thanks for linking!

Jess, thanks so much! I was so pleasantly surprised at how well these two pieces went together. I didn’t photograph the dress without the kimono, but it has the prettiest floaty sleeves with cut out shoulders. This is not a color combination I had ever thought of but it is so great. I am definitely missing my social events as well. I am glad that you are at least getting to visit some vineyards and such. If not for my kids, I may venture to a place like a vineyard.
