Eise Eisinga Planetarium by Eise Eisinga | Style Imitating Art

It’s time for our final art inspiration of 2024!

About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as presenter, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the presenter by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the presenter will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join either! In fact, you don’t even have to join but you can still use the art to inspire an outfit just for the sake of trying something different. If you want to share your inspired outfit, we invite you do so on Instagram or any other social media platform that you prefer. Just be sure to tag SalazarShelbee, or Marsha or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

This Week’s Presenter

It was my turn to choose the final piece of inspiration for the year. I had something completely different chosen (I will use that one another time) when I had my monthly Zoom call with my dear friend Nancy, who gave me a different idea. If y’all don’t know Nancy, you should (just click the link on her name). She’s one of the best humans I have ever met!

Anyway, Nancy lives in the Netherlands and she was sharing with me about her recent visit to the Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker, Friesland, Netherlands. Built between 1774 and 1781 by amateur Dutch astronomer Eise Jeltes Eisinga, the Royal Eise Eisinga Planetarium is the oldest working planetarium in the world. I was so interested in learning more about the history of the planetarium and figured if I was going to do the research anyway, why not use this stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site as our outfit inspiration this week. The colors are so beautiful and the celestial theme adds an interesting element to the inspiration as well. Below are some helpful links if you want to learn more and join us for this style challenge.

I have a few outfit ideas starting to formulate in my head for this challenge. However, my biggest obstacle is finding an accessible spot between all the mountains of snow to take some photos once I do get myself dressed.

If you are feeling inspired to join us, go get creative in your closet, snap a photo of your outfit, and send it to me at shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com by 10:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, and I will feature your photo in my gallery post on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. We would love to see more creative folks join our artsy challenges so share the inspiration with your friends!

Happy styling, my friends!

Keeping it on the edge,

Shelbee

Oh how exciting! It’s so lovely to see those photos again as it was a month ago that we have been there. And it was such a incredible planetarium! Looking very much forward to see what outfits you all come up with! And thank you so much for the kind words!

I think this would be such a cool place to visit, too. I have no idea yet what I am going to wear. I have four outfits I have to shoot this weekend and we have another 2-3 feet of snowing coming starting tonight. It is getting very annoying already and the snowy season has only just begun! You might look like Bride of Frankenstein, but I might look like Olaf from Frozen!

      xoxo
