Double Denim and Pearls
I have been wanting to try the double denim trend, but I wasn’t sure if I would be comfortable with it. The only way to find out if I could pull it off was to just pull it off and wear it with confidence. By the end of the day, I did feel pretty awesome in my double denim.
I paired dark wash skinny jeans with a lighter wash denim top. I am thinking that this is the best way to style double denim. I think darker on top and lighter on bottom would look weird. For me, at least. But please feel free to prove me wrong!
I added over the knee boots in cognac and a big multi-strand faux pearl necklace. I adore the look of pearls with denim! Actually, I am always partial to pearls with a more casual outfit. I think they add just a the right amount of jazz to take casual up a level.
It was chilly out so I definitely needed a jacket. I tried a plaid wool blazer, but that felt a little too stuffy and maybe more preppy than I was going for. Then I stumbled upon a really old navy blue pinstripe blazer buried deep in my closet and it worked perfectly. (I love this blazer because it has a bit of stretch which is perfect for the crazy movements required for dealing with little people all day!) For outside, I topped it off with an oversized colorblock blanket wrap scarf. I was warm, comfortable, and felt sophisticated in a casual way. I will probably wear some version of this outfit again!
Have you tried the double denim trend yet? Or the over the knee boot trend? How about pearls with denim? I would love to hear how you are styling your Fall wardrobes!
