Body Slender Laser Lipo Session & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #143

I want to start by clarifying that I received this laser liposuction session for free from a raffle that I had entered in a local boutique. I am under no obligation to share about this service, but it was all so interesting that I figured why not share. Also, laser lipo was not something that I had ever considered doing. I had merely entered the drawing because it was there. I never thought my name would be picked nor did I much care. But when I got the phone call that I had won a free session, I thought it would make for interesting blog content. So here we go…

As a huge proponent of body positivity, you may be wondering why I would endorse a service like liposuction. To be clear, I am not opposed to anyone doing things for themselves that will make them feel more confident in their own skin. Especially things that are completely harmless. And as a person who absolutely despises rigorous exercise, fighting against the stubborn fat that settles around one’s waist in midlife is quite challenging. Perhaps laser lipo is cheating, but every now and then taking the easy way out is acceptable. Plus you have to work pretty hard to earn the funds to complete the recommended amount of sessions to really make a difference.

Onto the process…I scheduled my appointment for first thing in the morning at the Body Slender Laser Center in Watertown, New York. It is recommended that you do not eat or drink anything except water for the two hours prior to your appointment. I was also asked to dress comfortably so I went full on cozy and casual with velvet joggers, a graphic tee, and my trusty Adidas. Upon entering I was greeted by the friendliest staff members. The receptionist, Sarajean, knew who I was as soon as I walked through the door, greeting me immediately by name. This was quite surprising as the waiting room chairs were already filled with people waiting for various services in the attached chiropractic practice. It certainly made me feel special.

Meet Sarajean

Then Alida, the laser lipo technician, came out to greet me as well. Since it was my first time in this office, she gave me a thorough tour of the facility as well as an explanation about all the services offered there. I was then escorted to a super cozy living room area where I watched a brief video about the Strawberry Laser Inch Loss and Fat Elimination technology that is used to reduce the size of fat cells without damaging or destroying them. This technology is a non-invasive and completely painless treatment approved by the FDA to immediately reduce fat cells in the targeted areas.

Meet Alida

I first sat down with Alida as she explained the whole process to me and asked what my goals were and which area I would like targeted in this session. Of course, as a midlife woman, I chose to target those stubborn fat cells that settle in the belly area. Alida then took various measurements of my abdominal area as well as some before photographs. I was going to share the photos, however, we did not take any after photos because the results are not quite so visible after just one session. If I decide to do any more sessions, I will certainly write a follow up post with both the before and after pictures.

Once all the preliminary things were completed, Alida strapped me into the laser wrap which is basically a giant velcro band with lots of little lasers attached to it that is wrapped around the targeted area. Then I laid down on a comfortable bed and she gave me BrainTap headphones for a bit of guided meditation while the lasers did their thing for a 20 minute time frame. Once the 20 minutes had ended, Alida shifted the lasers to another area of my abdomen to make sure we hit the entire target area. And all you have to do is lie there and relax. After about 15 minutes or so, you start feel some heat generating off the lasers, much like a heating pad. But other than that, you literally feel nothing.

After the 40 minutes of laser treatment was completed, Alida had me go on the jiggle machine (I don’t know the technical term for this machine) to shake all that loose fat out. I was on this machine for 10 minutes and did some exercises with a small dumbbell. I will admit I was a bit sore for a few days from doing squats while I jiggled. I am still not sure why I did the squats knowing full well that I would not continue on any sort of exercise regimen. Alida suggested after everything was completed that I drink lots of water to further assist the laser lipo process after the treatment.

My results after just one session of laser lipo…

Area MeasuredBefore TreatmentAfter Treatment
Upper Abdominal36.5 inches35.5 inches
Mid Abdominal37 inches36 inches
Umbilical Area39.5 inches39 inches
Lower Abdominal41 inches40.75 inches

I lost a combined total of 2.75 inches in the four targeted areas. Literally by just lying there. Seeing how well my body responded to the treatment, Alida recommended a total of 10 treatments for me to reach my desired result. The Body Slender Laser Center does offer various payment plans to make the treatment packages affordable for most budgets. For as little as $59 a week, you could be well on your way to shrinking up some of those unwanted fat cells and achieving the body you want.

But remember, even without laser lipo, you should still love and appreciate the body you do have! For these bodies of ours are miraculous creations and we should never underestimate their power or their beauty. Take care and keep loving yourself!

Would you ever consider laser lipo to help reduce unwanted fat cells?

I’ve never considered laser lipo but it clearly made a difference after just one session! It definitely sounds interesting, and an effective way to get rid of the fat cells. Also, I loved the idea of spreading kindness, that’s so lovely 🙂

The technology is pretty amazing! I always thought the process was considered dangerous and also painful. It’s so great that you could see you lost inches after one treatment. This is something I would consider for my belly if I had it in my budget! Thank you for sharing your experience!

Thanks for checking it out, Jill! It really was a cool experience and I would totally buy a package of sessions if it were in my budget, which it is not right now. But it was still neat to try it. Actual liposuction surgery is very painful…I have a few friends who did it and they said the recovery was awful. This is a much safer and not painful alternative.

That was interesting! My belly area is the one area that is very stubborn after 4 kids and I don’t especially like to exercise: the only reason I go to the gym is so that I can eat what I want without putting on too much weight. I am probably too cheap to do something like this but the results seem pretty impressive for one session!

Mireille, thanks so much for reading! I also like to eat what I want but I don’t go to the gym! And It is starting to show. I need to get back to my healthier eating habits. I have been snacking too much lately. While this was a great experience, it is a bit out of my budget right now. Perhaps someday when I have some throw away income, I could do this on a regular plan.

Interesting and thanks for sharing he experience with us but $59 is a big much for small results each time in my opinion but then again someone else would call it a “steal!”

  • jodie filogomo

Gosh, what a wonderful way to help our journey with loving our body. I do think it’s easier when we see changes like that!!

I think it’s so interesting the technology they’re developing to target fat- like laser lipo, cool sculpting, etc. It’s amazing! I’m right there with you- we should all learn to love our bodies because they do incredible things for us, but it’s also okay to invest in procedures that help with how you feel about the way you look. It’s a balance!

Ashley, thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts on body positivity. If I could afford the 10 sessions, I would totally go for it. But it’s not in my budget right now so I have to get back to eating healthier so I can feel good about myself. It is amazing how much our diets effect the way we feel, too!

The Jiggle Machine lol! That’s so crazy! I can’t believe the results are pretty immediate. And you know what… I don’t think it’s cheating at all. You do you and do whatever makes you happy and feel good about yourself! I think that a lot of people have a certain idea of what body positivity is in their mind but to me, being body positive means that you’re comfortable and happy with your body. So glad you had a good experience!

Lizzie, thanks so much! And I really do like your approach to body positivity! Again, it’s not something I would have tried before…mostly because I don’t want to spend that kind of money. But it was a cool experience. Right now, however, I have been terrible with my eating habits and I feel kind of gross, so I definitely need to make some changes soon so I can get back to feeling good about myself.

Congrats on winning the prize! By looking at the before and after numbers it definitely looks like it works great and doesn’t sound too painful.
I’m not sure if I’d ever try it for myself. I’m such a scaredy cat so probably not because I’d freak out and get claustrophobic with all those wires attached to me. I do try to eat healthy and it’s helpful that I don’t like fast food, plus luckily over the years I sort of lost my sweet tooth with only occasional cravings.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Ellibelle, thanks so much for reading! I get super claustrophobic very easily and I didn’t feel any of that. The wires are all just attached to the band around my waist so there weren’t like a million things attached to me. And I was free to move if I needed to so I didn’t feel confined or anything. I don’t like fast food either but my sweet tooth seems to be getting stronger with age! And I have been eating terribly lately so I do need to get back to my healthier habits, for sure. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I heard about a jiggle machine over 20 years ago! I think that one was one that a person laid on. How wonderful if all the fat could just jiggle away! hahaha…..

I think people should keep in mind that before Audrey Hepburn arrived on the scene, a skinny body was a sign of poverty. Indeed, my opinion is that she herself was probably skinny because of going through the Holocaust. (I own and have read her biography.)

    Anyway, what an interesting post!!

    Liberty @ B4andAfters.com

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Liberty, thanks so much for reading about my experience. I remember those jiggle machines from 20 years ago that claimed to jiggle the fat away! That would be amazing, wouldn’t it? Or maybe someone could just come up with a way to make cakes and pastries that remove calories from our bodies instead of adding them! Ha. I adore Audrey Hepburn and may have to check her autobiography now. You know I am all about loving the bodies we have, but if we want to improve in some way for our own sake (not because society set some unachievable standard), there are all sorts of things out there to help.

How interesting! Honestly I’ve always wanted to know more about this process. My belly has always been a stubborn area especially after kids. And I do a lot of cardio and ab work. Sometimes it would be nice to have just a little more definition or flatness!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Laura, thanks for reading! Honestly, if you are working out regularly and still have a stubborn area, you would probably really love this option in addition to what you are already doing. If you ever do look into it and/or try it, I would love to hear about your experience.

AH! You’re the best, lol. Thanks for mentioning me!
Laser lipo sounds super interesting, plus, lol at the jiggle machine! I mean, that HAS to be the technical term, right?

I go on bouts of being “healthy” and then bouts of being like, meh – I’ma do what I want. Ha.

    xo, Tea

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Aw, thanks, Tea! What the heck is that jiggle machine called?! It jiggles you until the fat falls off, apparently! And right now, I am totally in the “I’ma do what I want” mode. I need to change that…like soon! Have a great day, my friend.

Wow, what an amazing experience. I feel like you do–if someone wants to do something to feel better about themselves, then she/he should go for it. I’ll be anxious to hear what you think after several treatments. I like the “just laying there” part! Lol!

    Thanks for sharing,
    xx Darlene

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Darlene! The just laying there part is kind of the best part! Haha. I don’t have it in my budget right now to do additional sessions, but I am sure there are testimonials out there from people who have done multiple sessions. I should go find some and add them into my post.

Cheryl, thanks for reading about my experience. My reaction was the same as yours…plus it took me a week of a healthy cleanse and food withdraw to get that same result! Ha. Although the healthy cleanses are great to do periodically as well. I kind of need to do another one soon because I have been eating absolutely terribly lately! I don’t think I can afford 10 sessions any time soon, so unfortunately I won’t be able to let you know if the results are maintainable after that. But if ever I do, I will be sure to write about it.

Interesting treatment! Some can be quite uncomfortable, so finding one that allows you to relax while it’s happening is a bonus! I once had a course of treatments years ago – I can’t remember what it was called now, but it had been around a while and was supposedly guaranteed to work. I had to wear a body stocking while a high pressure suction device rolled over me. It was that fine line between pleasure and pain! It did firm up my skin and leave me feeling more svelte, but of course it didn’t last. The best results I’ve had is from a combination of running and weight training. Nothing comes easy!

Emma, thanks so much for reading and for sharing your experience! They definitely recommend a combination of healthy diet and exercise even with this treatment. Because, of course, you can do the treatment and then sit around and be lazy and eat junk all day and the results will never last. I think I have already undone my results! Too much delicious chocolate cake this week!

Suzy, thanks so much for reading! I definitely wouldn’t do anything that wasn’t non-evasive. Although many years ago when I was highly medicated for my Bipolar Disorder and I weighed 230 pounds, I was approved for gastric bypass surgery. I was told that the medication caused the weight gain and since I would need the medication for the rest of my life, I could get the surgery done. I decided not to in the end and was able to get off the medications which resulted in a very quick weight loss of nearly 70 pounds in 6 months…just from discontinuing all of the horrendous psych meds. So I am glad I went the route I did on that one!

Thanks for reading, Linda! I think losing an inch off my waist in one session is pretty dramatic especially if I continued with more sessions. I could conceivably lose 10 inches in 10 sessions at that rate. But it can get pretty pricey. I hop you have a fantastic day!
