Awesome Archie’s Zombie on Zoom Birthday Party
And so we celebrate another birthday in quarantine! Remember back in March, Radical Ralphie had a Coronavirus Birthday Party? Well, here we are six weeks later, still in lockdown mode, and another kid’s birthday has arrived. But we have gotten a bit more skilled with technology these past six weeks so we were able to throw together a party on Zoom at the very last minute…because that’s how this momma rolls!
But before we Zoomed, Archie requested French Toast Strata for breakfast…topped with ice cream, whipped cream, and sprinkles. Basically a sundae on top of a heaping pile of French Toast mush! Of course, I had to indulge this request. And it was gosh dang delicious!
Archie thought a zombie apocalypse was a cool theme for his birthday because, well, you know…apocalypse. He wanted us all to dress as zombies, but we never quite got around to making those costumes! Instead, a zombie cake on Zoom was the best we could do. Thanks so much to Monica of EuropeCakes for being awesome and making the best cakes ever! The zombie cake was chocolate with coconut filling and absolutely mouth-watering.
I have a “basic” account on Zoom so I was only able to invite 3 guests to join us on that platform. And because everything was really last minute…like I planned the Zoom thing at 2:40 p.m. today for a 3:00 p.m. meeting…we added other people on Messenger group chats and FaceTime. So once we got everyone dialed in…3 families on Zoom, two group chats on two different Kindles, and two family members on FaceTime, we were ready for a very loud and chaotic singing of the obligatory birthday song!
I am so proud of Archie for just taking this all in stride! He didn’t complain once about a thing and he was so excited to see his friends and relatives on Zoom. Thank you so very much to everyone who dialed in to make this very strange birthday a memorable one!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Oh, what a fun party for little Archie! (Love his name, by the way!) This has to be hard for kids not to see all their friends and relatives–especially on their birthdays! I used to have to tell my son after a couple mini-celebrations that his birthday was officially over!! We took so many things for granted, didn’t we? Happy belated to Archie and good job, Mom!

Thank you so very much, Darlene! We really do take a lot of things for granted. Perspectives are definitely changing these days. I told both boys we would have a combined party with their friends once we are able to…but that may not be until their birthdays next year, sadly. Hopefully sooner though! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Awwwww kudos to you super mom for making Archie’s birthday in quarantine so special! My mom used to make us pancakes, topped with ice cream and then she’d spoon blueberry pie filling on top. So I am all in with your birthday boy’s breakfast request!
Okay, that cake. Yum – chocolate and coconut? Yes, PLEASE. I also love how it’s decorated. I’m glad you were able to have a zoom party and I think sweet Archie’s smile says it all!

Thanks so much, Kellyann! I hope that I am creating cherished memories for my kids the same way that our moms did! I don’t remember a special birthday breakfast request when I was young, but I always asked for meatloaf and mashed potatoes for my birthday dinner and my mom never disappointed! #bestmeatloafever And this cake that Archie chose…chocolate with coconut filling…I was uncertain about his combination…but it tastes like an almond joy but better! So freaking good!
