Songful Style Link Party #45: “The Greatest Man I Never Knew” by Reba McIntyre
My musically inspired friends and I are back after our holiday break with our next round of songfully styled outfits. About Songful Style Songful Style is a style challenge series hosted by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, Marsha of Marsha in the Middle, and Suzy of Suzy Turner, The Grey Brunette. It is similar to Style Imitating Art where we use artwork to inspire our outfit creations. Except Songful Style gives you lyrics, music, video, and album artwork to inspire your fashion creativity. You may…

Happy A-Day to Us & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #791
Today is our wedding anniversary. 16 years of love and laughter since we said I do. Forever is a really long time but we committed to it and there’s no turning back now! We had breakfast plans at our favorite diner today but the weather may be preventing it. Plus premenopausal PMS is really kicking my butt this week and making me not want to eat very much. I suppose we will be celebrating by moving snow off the driveway instead! But that’s okay as long as we are doing it together. The weather has been hindering my ability to take photographs all month long so I haven’t had much…

Making Birthday Parties More Fun With Unexpected Surprises
Adult birthday parties can become boring after a while. There’s food and drink, maybe some decorations, and a cake that just becomes a routine as somebody has to bring it out while everybody awkwardly sings Happy Birthday. It is obligatory at this point in life. But just because we’re past the need for a bouncy castle doesn’t mean birthdays have to be boring. There are ways to add surprise and laughter to the day to make it a party people actually remember. Adults Need Surprises, Too At some point, adult birthdays become something that nobody puts any effort into. Children get birthday parties with themes and cakes that feature their…

The Thrifty Six in Faux Fur
The Thrifty Six are back in 2026 with more budget friendly fashion in preloved styles! Emma chose our January theme of Faux Fur. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with fur whether it is synthetic or real. I appreciate the necessity of wearing animal furs for survival hundreds of thousands years ago. And considering where I live, I appreciate the desire for the warmth offered by an authentic fur coat. But real fur grosses me out. So the next best thing would be synthetic fur. Just slightly less gross but soft and warm and fun to wear sometimes. Some years ago, I was deep in the love phase…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 21: Gray Hooded Cardigan & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #790
I wore this outfit a few weeks ago to run some errands. I had no intention of even photographing it as I literally just threw it on to go shopping with my husband. I decided to share it only after a very kind man in Best Buy enthusiastically complimented my “whole look.” Since it features a few thrifted pieces, I decided to share another Adventures in Thrifting post. The last thrifting adventure that I shared was all the way back in August so it was time to highlight some more of my favorite preloved wardrobe finds. The focal piece is this amazing long gray hooded open front sweater that I…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Leggings
We are welcoming the new year in one of my favorite wardrobe staples…Leggings! They keep me cozy, warm, and comfortable nearly all year round. The only time I put my leggings away is on the days when it is too hot for tight clothes. But days that hot don’t happen often where I live so my leggings are always readily available for wear at any time. I have thin ones for warmer weather and fleece lined ones for cold weather. I have full length ones, cropped ones, and even biker shorts which are just a really short version of leggings. I have them in many colors, prints, and patterns as…

Some of My Favorite Christmas Gifts & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #789
Now that the holiday chaos has settled and the children have returned to school, it is time for me to get back to regular life. No more sitting around in my pajamas, makeup free with messy hair, until lunchtime. I must resume the stay-at-home mom duties that keep me busy for 16-18 hours a day and leave me exhausted before the sun goes down. During the holiday break, I didn’t do much. In fact, I barely left my house except for a few times for various appointments as well as a family movie outing to see Avatar: Fire and Ash, which, by the way, is my least favorite of the…
