All American Ensembles
With Independence Day quickly approaching as the quintessential All-American holiday and the epitome of summer celebrations, I thought I would provide you with some outfit inspirations in our national colors. I really do love combining red, white, and blue, and I wear this combination quite often. Below are just some patriotic ensembles I have created in recent months. Hopefully, you can find some inspiration for your barbeque, picnic, party, or firework outfits!
Outfit 1: Blue and white floral and stripes with red accents.
Outfit details:
Floral shirt: Gap Factory Boyfriend Utility Shirt in Blue Floral Print. This is only available in size XS online, but for a clearance price of $12.97. They have other really adorable prints in all sorts of gorgeous color combinations in this exact shirt.
Tank top: Old Navy (from last year). They have a crazy big selection of tank tops online including stripes and other wonderful prints here.
Pants: Gap Factory Pinstripe Girlfriend Khakis in Blue Stripe Yarn Dye. Very limited sizes available online but currently on sale for $32.99.
Belt: Walmart (from last year).
Sneakers: Converse One Star purchased from Target way back when Target carried Converse One Star. Does anyone else remember that? I wonder why they stopped carrying the brand…
Purse: TJ Maxx (I can’t find it online, but the link will take you directly to their white handbags under $50.)
Necklace: I have had this necklace for so long that I have forgotten where it came from.
Outfit 2: Fireworks and boats shirt with blue gingham shorts. The pattern on the shirt combines white, blue, and coral, but the fireworks print is in line with 4th of July.
Outfit details:
Shirt: Old Navy (from last year)
Tank: Mossimo Seamless Tank from Target (the coral color is from last year)
Shorts: Old Navy Everyday Twill Shorts in Blue Gingham (currently on sale for $14.97)
Shoes: Payless (from last year). Other footbed styles here and here. And their summer BOGO event is currently going on!
Belt: Gap (from about 10 years ago)
Necklace: Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s (from last year)
Outfit 3: Red and white graphic tee with blue and white checkered shorts.
Outfit details:
Tee: Old Navy (from last year). The link will take you directly to the Old Navy Americana collection which includes all of their patriotic clothing.
Shorts: Old Navy High-Waisted Linen Shorts in Navy Blue Check
Shoes: Circus by Sam Edelman from Famous Footwear (from last year). The link takes you directly to the Circus by Sam Edelman shoes available at Famous Footwear right now. There are some really cute silver options.
Necklace: Tree of Life Necklace from Sterling Silver by Denise Smith
Outfit 4: A simple white dress. I paired mine with black accessories, but you can up your Americana game by accessorizing with blue or red instead.
Outfit details:
Dress: Old Navy Sheer Flutter Sleeve Dress in White (the white is no longer available, but it is still available in Lady Guava in limited sizes for $32.00).
Necklace: I do not remember where I purchased this necklace.
Shoes: Payless (from last year)
I also have styled red, white, and/or blue outfits quite a few times on the blog. If you want more inspiration, please check out these posts:
Spring Favorite: Tee Shirt Dress and Sneakers. Here I show 3 different tee shirt dresses, but the third one on the post is all red, white, and blue.
A Battlefield, A Restaurant, and A Striped Dress. Here I wore a blue and black striped swing dress with black and white accessories, but you could very easily add pops of red to this outfit to make it more patriotic.
Vanity or Sanity? In this post, I styled a red and white cocoon dress with black and white accessories. Change out these accessories for blue ones and you have a fabulous outfit for an All-American holiday!
Gingham is My Jam. This is where I wore a blue and white gingham shirt dress as a jacket over a white sundress and added red accessories.
Kimono Love. My red, white, and blue fringed kimono paired with a blue star print tank top and boyfriend jeans just screams American holiday!
And if you shop my closet at Shop Shelbee Lane, you might find something else fun for the 4th of July!
I hope you have found some inspiration for your holiday weekend style! What are your plans for the upcoming holiday weekend? Do you have an outfit already planned?
Staying patriotic on the edge,
Shelbee

Thanks for linking! I’m especially fond of the silhouette of the “flutter” sleeve dress — that one would work for me!
How are your Instaspammers? I’m publishing a rant about them on Tuesday.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Anne! That flutter sleeve dress is so comfortable, but I got pizza sauce all over it! Go figure. The Instaspammer issue is still persisting! I haven’t posted anything new all weekend and I still had about 20 new spam comments. I guess I need to stop using hashtags…that is what seems to be the trigger. I can’t wait to see your rant. I also have noticed an increase in spam comments on my blog, too. So annoying! Thanks for looking out!

Love this post! I really like the gingham shorts and the white dress! The white dress looks so comfy but stylish! And on you they look even more fab! (Wait did I phrase that as a compliment? I meant to and I am trying).

Well done, Aimee! And thanks for the fab compliments!

All the looks are classic and flatter you but I really loved the look with the shorts (2) and the simple dress (4); both are styles I can see myself using. Thanks again for another series of fun looks, Shelbee. I love coming by your blog!

Thanks so much, Alexis! I am so happy that I could inspire you!

What a lovely blouse! Perfect for summer! It is raining again here all week! Pfff, am really getting very tired of it! I hope it is better with you, enjoy your week😘
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Nancy! We have rain today, but it’s good because we have had a stretch of really hot days, which I have very little tolerance for, so hopefully it cools off a bit for us! I hope your weather turns around for you soon!

Lorena
The “Oh say can you see” look is my fave, specially the shorts. I had not thought of printed or patterned shorts, which is odd as its almost always summer here.
When I read the tittle of your post I thought it would be about clothes being made in the US. I remember while growing up that many things were made in the US, and it usually meant quality and great craftmanship. Now I am surprised when I do find a tag that reads made in US.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Lorena! Sorry for the misleading title! It’s so true, though, it is hard to find clothing made in the USA these days! Are you familiar with Mrs. American Made? Her entire blog is devoted to styles of all made in the United States apparel and accessories.
Thank you for stopping by!

With so many options Shelbee, I think you need to go to at least 10 parties this weekend!! Then you can wear them all!!
I love the blue gingham shorts with the silver sandals—maybe because I have a similar look in my closet??

So true, Jodie! I actually wore all of these looks throughout Memorial Day weekend but never got around to posting them! Which I guess is for the better because then I had enough outfits for a whole 4th of July post! Silver sandals are the best for feeling festive!
