Every year in the United States as well as many other countries in the world, the month of June is recognized as Pride Month, a celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community in honor of the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan on June 28, 1969, when a police bust on a gay bar became violent and the gay patrons as well as neighborhood residents fought back.
