An Easy Early Fall Outfit & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #242
It is my favorite time of year when the season transitions from summer to fall. I love when the temperature begins to drop just enough that a lightweight sweater is comfortable but you can still wear sandals and allow your toes to enjoy the last bit of warmth that the early autumn sun grants us. We only get a few weeks of this kind of weather in the North Country before boots and coats and hats and scarves are daily necessities. I found this mossy green striped sweater at Old Navy back in the early spring. I was actually done shopping and heading to the register when I spotted it.…

The Fab 40’s are Channeling 80’s Pop Icons
Last month, it was Candy Crush that inspired our outfits. This month, we have completely shifted gears with Suzy‘s chosen style prompt of 80’s Pop Icons. When I think of the 1980’s and Pop Icons, Madonna immediately comes to mind. Remember her outfit from the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards when she performed Like A Virgin in her sexy corseted wedding dress with piles of pearls around her neck? I have always admired this woman’s willingness to take all the risks to get what she wants. And she certainly knows how to make a powerful statement with her wardrobe choices, too. Always on the frontier of edgy fashion, she made…

Leaving the Past Behind as We Move Forward into the Winter Season & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #241
After the crazy year that was, there is the fall and winter that are yet to be. After what has been one of the most challenging periods in recent human history, I think we could all use a little breathing room and now is the perfect time to find it. As it happens, there are a multitude of reasons why this change of season is so very good for the soul, but in the interest of space and reading time, I am only going to share some of the best reasons. So now you may be thinking I’ve quite lost my mind. Aren’t the warmer months the best times for…

The Thrifty Six are Simply Striped
There is nothing quite like a big, bold, black and white prison-style striped pattern to make yourself visible. In fact, that was the sole purpose of striped patterns when they first made their appearance in woven textiles…their visibility. Stripes are one of the first patterns in woven textiles which have been in continuous use in the apparel industry since the beginning. Stripes are also a gender neutral, timelessly classic print that is just as acceptable on an infant as it is on an octogenarian. Stripes go with everything including other stripes and lend themselves to many creative combinations within my very own closet. However, five hundred years ago, I could…

How to Avoid Style Disasters & What to Do If You Have One + Link Up On the Edge #262
As any style addict knows, there is so much more to fashion and style than simply flipping through glossy magazines and deciding what to wear each day. Instead, playing around with your look is about expressing yourself, having fun, and feeling great. Rather than following the latest runway trends and seeking out must-have items, style is more subjective and reflects you and your personality. Experimenting with color and pattern, different fabrics, and accessories provides a creative outlet and can really help to boost your mood. However, if you are someone who loves to experiment with personal style and try out different looks, it is inevitable that sometimes your outfits may…

Inspired by Country Music & Your Own Twist Link Up #36
I don’t have any idea how we got halfway through September already. I feel like it was just July last week! But here we are in mid-September and it is time again for Your Own Twist with Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. Monica and I both share of love for cowgirl boots and tomorrow is International Country Music Day so we decided to create outfits inspired by country music for this month’s theme. Of course, we both wore our cowgirl boots for this style prompt because cowgirl boots and country music go together like cheese and macaroni! Speaking of cowgirl boots, I just ordered a new pair and I…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Black & White
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye. The theme for September is Black & White, a…

Protecting Our Privates Naturally with WAMA Hemp Underwear & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #240
Recently, I have increased my focus on finding and supporting sustainable and ethical brands not only for the sake of our earth and environment but also for my own personal health. When we talk about sustainability and ethics in the production of fabrics and apparel, the emphasis is on the business practices and sourcing of products involved in the manufacture and sale of clothing goods. However, we seem to forget that everything we put in, on, and around our bodies effects our physical and overall health as well. Natural fabrics and fibers are not only better for the environment but they are better for our bodies, too. I am always…

Workin’ for the Weekend | September Stylish Monday Link Up
The past month has literally flown by so quickly that my head is spinning. For this Stylish Monday group of fabulously fashionable women, we went from Back to Work styles in August to Workin’ for the Weekend in September. It really does sometimes feel like the work never ends regardless of the day of the week. As a blogger, a lot of my behind the scenes work happens on the weekends. It is the easiest time to coordinate with my husband/photographer and so my weekends are generally occupied with changing outfits and taking and editing photos. On a weekend with good weather, we will sometimes photograph 6-7 outfits so my…
