10 on the 10th: March 2024-Bein’ Green

It is March 10 which means it’s time for another round of Marsha’s monthly question and answer game. 10 on the 10th is a monthly series hosted by Marsha in the Middle and is open to anyone who wants to join. You can share your answers in Marsha’s link party if you have a blog or you can share your answers in the comment section. It is such a fun way to share more information about ourselves and to learn interesting new things about others. The questions posed offer a great way to start new conversations, make meaningful connections with new people, and have a good hearty chuckle every now and then.

For March, Marsha (thankfully) has chosen a super simple format focused on the color green. Fortunately for me, green is my very favorite color. It has been since birth, I think. I love every shade of green from bright lime to deep emerald to vintage avacado green. I was the only green-eyed baby in my blue-eyed family so my mother always dressed me in shades of green because “it made my eyes shine”. I still wear green frequently because my mother thought it made my eyes shine.

Did you know that only 2% of the world’s population has green eyes? That makes us rather rare and unique, doesn’t it? But I do like to think that it’s not just my eye color that makes me rare and unique. Ha.

I could probably share about 100 favorite green things, but Marsha only asked for 10. So I have rounded up the first 10 green things that I could find. All the green things are my favorite things!

1. Monochromatic Green Outfit

This outfit features lots of favorite green things in my wardrobe including my green leopard print kimono robe, a thrifted green turtleneck sweater, a very old green velvet skirt, my fabulous green velvet boots, my new green mala beads, my jade tree of life necklace, and my green and copper flea market earrings. Unlike Kermit, I find it rather easy bein’ green.

2. Green Prints and Accessories

This outfit includes more favorite green things like this brown dress with green velvet flowers and my green Panama hat. I love this hat and dress so much!

3. “Count on Me” by Ryan McAllister

I first saw this sculpture by Ryan McAllister on a Facebook post and I immediately fell in love with the beautiful green stained glass wings. I featured it for an SIA challenge in October which led me to transforming a very frumpy green dress into a wonderful duster.

4. Little Green Dress

I bought this little green dress online years ago and it has been a constant favorite. I most recently wore it for our last SIA challenge, “Atom Heart Mother” by Hipgnosis.

5. Avocado Green Cardigan

I picked up this adorable bohemian sweater in Asheville last October and I pretty much wear it constantly. I love the color and the fringe and it is so soft and warm and comfy. It also goes with so many things in my closet.

6. Green Teddy Blake Bag

I received this green Teddy Blake bag almost 2 years ago and my love for it has not yet begun to diminish.

7. My Green Dining Room

I painted my dining room in various shades of green about a year and a half ago and it is still making me smile.

8. My Green Cloffice

I painted my cloffice space green three years ago and it, too, is still making me smile.

9. Green Stoneware and Pottery

I have loved green stoneware and pottery since I was a kid and my mother began collecting the green Longaberger dishes. I think my sister may still have that set of dishes. I will have to ask her about them. In any event, my sister gifted me this green serving dish set when we purchased our first home in 2011. She also had the same dishes and just gave me another set of the mixing bowls. I was very happy to acquire them because my medium mixing bowl broke and it made me very sad.

10. Green Glass

Like green stoneware and pottery, I also have an obsession for green glass. I found these two green vases on thrifting adventures and have since acquired a few more green glass pieces which I have yet to photograph. There is something really special about green glass that catches my attention every time.

As I stated earlier, I could keep going on forever listing favorite green things, but 10 is my limit! However, Marsha shared 11 green things in her post since she only asked 9 questions for December’s 10 on the 10th, so I am going to share an 11th one as well.

11. Woodland Shaggy Raggy Garland

I just made this woodland green shaggy raggy garland and I am in love with it! Actually, I made two. One is hanging above the dining room doorway and the other is for sale at the STATE ST. Market.

My dining room is green too and I have lots of green glass things around the house becuase I too really like green a lot; in many, many shades. I’m going to have to start looking for some green pottery though; you have so many pretty pieces!

Oh, I didn’t realize you had green eyes, Shelbee! I do, too! We are very unique in this world. I didn’t include my green eyes in my list but did in my wrap up. I absolutely adore that green velvet skirt as well as the kimono. And, the Teddy Baker bag is fabulous! Gosh, we have a lot in common…I love green glass, too. My dad was a telephone guy. One year, he brought home gobs of glass insulators. I really wish I’d hung onto some of them. Some were green. But, I was young and dumb and didn’t think I needed them.

Thanks for playing along, my green-eyed friend!

Thanks so much, Marsha! And I didn’t realize that you had green eyes either! We are very unique, indeed. I did not have any idea what a glass insulator was so I looked it up and there are collectors and all sorts of crafts that people make from these adorable little pieces of colored glass. Now I also wish you had hung onto some of these when your father brought them home!

Looking really good in green Shelbee. Green is my favorite color as well, especially green candy. I only wear green when I choose a costume because to me a costumes must have some green.

Shelbee, you have so many green pieces. Just beautiful. I especially love that cozy cardigan and those moccasins {leave it to me to notice the shoes}. LOL

And that pottery — it reminds me of brown stoneware that my grandmother had when I was a kid. My dad had a similar piece, a coffee mug, that had a whistle that came off the handle.

Thanks so much, Daenel! I do love green! These moccasins were a thrift store find that made me so happy! I love this idea of a coffee mug with a whistle. LOL My husband has a stoneware coffee mug that has a weed pipe built into the handle!
