Feeling Like a Boss Lady in ShopSvelte & Link Up On the Edge #57
Do you have an outfit combination that totally makes you feel like a boss lady? That one piece that makes you feel powerful? In charge? Invincible? That outfit that makes you stand taller, hold your head higher, walk more confidently? Your superhero outfit?
*This is a sponsored post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
For me, a fabulous curve-hugging pencil skirt makes me feel like a superhero! And what better quality in a pencil skirt than built-in shape wear support? When ShopSvelte reached out to me to try one of their products, there was no hesitation on my part. Founder Liliana Turecki realized as she entered her 40’s that her body was changing and her clothing needed to as well. Focusing on the idea that your clothes “should be a source of confidence, not stress,” the ShopSvelte line was created offering women pieces that respect the female body and meet all of its needs. All of the ShopSvelte pieces have a built in shape wear system that hugs and controls just where you need it to without being constricting or uncomfortable as most shape wear tends to be.
Before choosing a piece from ShopSvelte, I read a few blogger reviews of their leggings and denim products and I was really liking what I read. But since there was already product review information out there in blogland about the leggings, I decided to try a skirt. I chose the black pencil skirt and I know it is going to be on continuous rotation in my wardrobe now. I am going to link the other posts below for you to check out if you want to read more about ShopSvelte products.
But first let me tell you about this skirt. The fabric is so soft with a little bit of stretch, not that crazy super tight spandex fabric that you often find in shape wear pieces. If you have ever worn shape wear, you know what I am talking about. The kind that you break a sweat just trying to pull it up over your thighs! Then you spend the entire day all out of breath because it’s squeezing you so tight. This skirt does not do that. Rather, it gently hugs my curves and smooths out the lumps without feeling like a straight jacket.
As far as sizing is concerned, I fall on the smaller side of the X-Large based on the size chart provided and so I went with the X-Large. If this is the case for you, I would recommend sizing down. I think the size Large would have provided me with a little extra support. In any event, the X-Large offers me comfort and smoothing where I need it. And it actually gives the appearance that I have a shapely butt. For the record, I have the flattest rear end of any woman I know! So there must be some sort of lifting and shaping power in the seat of this fabulous skirt, too.
If you are looking for high quality pieces that respect your curves and give you the comfort and support that a female body demands, look no further! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Good Morning Beautiful Shelbee! Thank you so much for featuring my post on your site this week. I used to write lots of “inspirational” posts, but it seemed like people didn’t respond to them. It feels so good to know that it touched you.
I love your outfit! I have the same crop sweater top and love it! And the stockings–where are you getting all those cool stockings! You look amazing! Hugs! Nina
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Nina! You should definitely write more inspirational posts! I find that is what makes our blogs stand out amongst the rest…when we can provide content that has deeper meaning than just the clothes. It is real and it reaches people on a different level. This sweater has been sitting in my closet for so long and I had no idea how to style it and then it just came to me! Oh, and the cool stockings I find at all different places, plus I have quite the stash of old ones, too! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

I feel like a boss lady when I wear killer heels with a figure hugging dress but I don’t do it too often because it kills my poor feet lol!!

I’m sold! The outfit is fabulous and you look fantastic. A pencil skirt is a must-have for all women and to find one that smooths the bumps as it hugs your curves is awesome. I’m definitely going to check out ShopSvelte. Thanks for sharing and hosting.
Rena
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Rena! I can’t believe how comfortable this skirt is and I didn’t need any shape wear underneath at all! You literally can’t go wrong. They also have a really fabulous leather skirt and a denim pencil skirt. I had such a hard time deciding which one to try! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend, my friend.

The skirt is nice but where would one wear this type of outfit? I’m 65 and short so I wouldn’t look good in this anyway but really, it just looks like a fashion “don’t.” And having lived most of my life on military posts as an Army brat and later as an officer, I wonder if you actually wear something like this in real life? Thankfully, the days of suits and white gloves on military wives has passed and won’t be coming back, and as a retiree, I live my life in T-shirts and jeans, so I’m not trying to be mean here – just curious.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Hi Marcy, thank you for stopping by and I sensed nothing mean about your curiosity! First, as an Army wife, I want to thank you for your years of service! And actually, I did wear this outfit in real life to a business networking meeting. In my daily stay-at-home mom life, you will usually find me in casual dresses or some combination of jeans and a tee shirt, but my jeans and tees are always layered and accessorized to be a bit more fancy! In general, outfits that I show on my blog are outfits that I wear in real life…except for the occasional formal wear that I just style for a specific post.
As far as dressing a petite frame in an outfit like this, it is all about the proportions. You would want the skirt to hit above the knee and maybe the short layer over the long layer may not work. But perhaps a longer sweater over a button down with just a small amount of the shirt tails peeking out would be more flattering with regard to proportion. There is a fabulously helpful concept called the Rule of Thirds. I found this article to be quite good: http://www.smartwomenonthego.com/dressing-your-best-the-rule-of-thirds/. I hope my response was helpful in some way!
Again, thanks so much for stopping by and do hope you are having a fabulous weekend!
